Central Heating & Air Conditioning has deep roots in the Billings community, with a history that dates back to 1945. Our story began with Ralph Winchell, who founded the company under the name Central Sheet Metal to meet the growing HVAC needs of the local community. His focus on high-quality equipment and skilled craftsmanship quickly earned the trust of Billings residents. Ralph’s commitment to excellence was carried forward by his sons, John and Jerry Winchell, who continued to grow the company and maintain its stellar reputation. Under their leadership, Central Sheet Metal became synonymous with reliable, professional service. In 1997, Lenny Earnst joined the company and began learning from the Winchells. When the time came for John Winchell to retire, he wanted to ensure the company’s legacy of exceptional service continued. Confident in Lenny’s skills and dedication, John entrusted him with the future of the business. In 2011, Lenny and his wife, Gina Earnst, purchased the company and gave it a new name: Central Heating & Air Conditioning. The name change better reflected the full scope of HVAC services provided while honoring the company’s history and mission.
