A Family Tradition of Fixing Things From a young age, I learned the value of hard work, dedication, and problem-solving from my dad, who seemed to be able to fix just about anything. Whether it was rebuilding a car engine or diagnosing complex IT issues for his company, he always tackled challenges with persistence and skill. I was often by his side, holding the flashlight while he worked on my first car, or simply observing as he fixed whatever came his way around the house. These moments instilled a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship and patience required to get things done right. As much as I admired his ability to tackle mechanical problems, I also realized that I wasn’t cut out for the world of mechanics (and to this day, I’m still mystified by how my dad manages to do it all without dropping any curses). But that early exposure to the world of problem-solving and home repairs was foundational for me. It laid the groundwork for my own career and sparked my lifelong interest in construction and remodeling. Thanks to my dad, I learned the importance of dedication, problem-solving, and always giving your best effort, regardless of the challenge. The Start of a Construction Career At 15, I took my first steps into the world of construction during a summer job with a church friend who happened to be a contractor. This wasn’t just any job—it was a hands-on opportunity to learn the entire process of building houses from scratch. From digging footings to putting on the final coat of paint, I was involved in every phase of the project. It wasn’t glamorous work, but it was immensely satisfying. It gave me a real sense of how things come together, how every part of a project is critical to its success, and the amount of hard work that goes into creating a home. Building My First Home at 18 By the time I graduated from high school, I was already deeply immersed in the world of construction. At 18, I had the bold ambition to build my first home. Well, let’s be honest—building an entire house by yourself is nearly impossible. While I did have help, I was the one who had to make sure everything came together seamlessly. It was a massive undertaking for someone so young, but it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. From pouring the foundation to framing the walls, I learned more about the intricacies of residential construction than I ever could have imagined. A Career Path in Residential Remodeling In 2001, my career took a significant turn when I started working for my future father-in-law, who owned a residential remodeling company and a Re-Bath franchise in middle Georgia. The real reason I joined the company, though, was because my future wife worked there, and let’s just say that seeing her each day was definitely the highlight of my workday. But the job itself was incredibly valuable. In 2016, two partners and I made a major move and purchased the business. Over the next few years, we transformed the company, tripling its revenue and even earning the prestigious Re-Bath Franchise of the Year award. This period was a significant milestone in my career—it solidified my ability to lead a business, manage projects, and truly understand the operational side of remodeling. I’m grateful to have been part of such a transformative time in the company’s history. Starting a New Chapter: Ozark Home Pros After two decades of building my career and gaining invaluable experience, I decided it was time for a change. At the end of 2020, I sold my shares in the company to my partners and set out on a new adventure—moving our family and business from Georgia to Arkansas. Moving all our belongings was no small feat (three trips, believe it or not!), but the decision to relocate was the right one. It was the beginning of a new chapter in both my personal and professional life.
