How It All Began

The story of Helping Hands Cleaning Services begins with our founder, Gosia Baran. Originally from Poland, Gosia moved to the United States in 1999, drawn to the country’s opportunities and the promise of a better life. She settled in Chicago with her husband, Tony, and began her career working at a law firm downtown. However, life as a working mother became increasingly difficult. In 2000, Gosia became pregnant, and like many working mothers, she faced the challenge of balancing a demanding job and maintaining a clean home.The journey of Helping Hands Cleaning Services was inspired by this very challenge. Gosia, while struggling to keep her home in order during her pregnancy, decided to hire a cleaning service to help. What followed was an experience that opened her eyes to the need for a higher standard of cleaning service. The cleaning woman arrived in tank tops and shorts, with no proper cleaning supplies and had to be trained on how to use the products. This experience left Gosia frustrated, and she realized that if she wanted to bring the cleanliness and organization she desired into her home, she would have to create a service that was different—one that was highly professional, reliable, and trustworthy.When 9/11 happened, Gosia was laid off from her law firm job, which was a turning point. It was then that Helping Hands Cleaning Services was born.
