Our Humble Beginnings

Founded in 1994, Gecko Garage Doors began as a small, family-run operation serving the West Valley. Back then, garage door services were much simpler, and the role of “The Garage Door Man” was to fix the basics—installing openers, repairing springs, and making sure everything was working as it should. The founding owner, Lance, was the driving force behind this venture, starting as a one-man operation. He single-handedly built the company, earning the trust of the local community with his exceptional service and dedication to quality. Because of his hard work and determination, we affectionately refer to him as our “Founding Father”.The company originally operated under the name Sun West Garage Door Service but eventually transitioned to Gecko Garage Doors Inc. in 2012 as part of a rebranding effort. Despite the changes in name and structure over the years, the core of our company has remained unchanged: we are still a family-owned business, driven by a commitment to integrity, service, and community.Lance is now retired, and you might find him enjoying the great outdoors, camping in Northern Arizona. However, his legacy continues through his son, Preston, who has stepped up as the next generation of leadership and continues to uphold the values that made the company successful in the first place. The expertise and dedication that Lance instilled in the company are alive and well, thanks to Preston’s leadership.

Meet Preston: The Next Generation

Hello! I’m Preston, the proud second-generation owner of Gecko Garage Doors. Growing up in this business, it was inevitable that I would one day take the reins. I’m honored to carry on the legacy my father, Lance, established, and I hope one day one of my own children—four daughters and one son—might continue the tradition. We take great pride in being a family-owned and operated business, and it means a lot to me that we have been able to serve this community for nearly three decades.My journey in the garage door industry started when I was just a kid. I have always had a fascination with mechanical systems, and as soon as I was old enough to hold a wrench, I was helping my dad in the garage. From there, I progressed to become a Junior Technician and eventually began driving the service truck. Over the years, I’ve gained a tremendous amount of experience from my dad, but also through hands-on learning. Solving complex garage door problems, providing solutions for customers, and working with a wide variety of garage door systems has made me a better technician and business owner.As a team, my dad and I have seen it all—from simple repairs to complex installations. Together, we’ve solved issues in thousands of homes across the West Valley, and I’m proud to continue that tradition of service excellence.

Rebranding & Growth

In 2012, we made a pivotal decision to rebrand the company and change our name to Gecko Garage Doors Inc.. This rebranding marked a significant turning point, and it set the stage for the growth we’ve experienced in the years since. With the new name, we were able to position ourselves for future success, and we’ve been able to expand our reach while still staying true to our core values of quality service and customer satisfaction.Since the rebranding, Gecko Garage Doors has experienced tremendous growth. What started as a one-man operation is now a thriving business with 5 service technicians and 4 office personnel, handling everything from dispatch and scheduling to accounting and customer service. This growth has been a direct result of the trust and loyalty we’ve earned from our customers, and we’re excited about what the future holds.As we continue to expand, we are making preparations for future needs, including larger office space, an expanded workshop, and more warehouse storage for our growing inventory. We are confident that these changes will help us continue to provide the highest level of service and meet the demands of an expanding customer base. Despite the changes, our commitment to excellence remains unwavering. We will always prioritize the values that have gotten us this far: hard work, integrity, and exceptional service.

You may be greeted by someone familiar when you call our office, as my wife, Rebekah, and aunt, Tambria, are both integral parts of our team. They handle dispatch and customer service, ensuring that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.One of the things we hear most often from our customers is that they appreciate the personalized service they receive. Many of our customers have been with us for years, and they appreciate knowing that we are a small, local business that treats them like family. Over the years, we’ve built lasting relationships with our customers, and we are grateful for the trust they place in us.We also take great pride in the fact that many of the same trusted technicians who started with us years ago are still part of the team today. They are the backbone of our company, and our customers rely on them for their experience, professionalism, and expertise. Occasionally, we even call on Lance, my father, to offer his wisdom and advice on special projects. His guidance remains invaluable to this day.
