Scott’s journey began in 1999, traveling across the Midwest to install and refinish gymnasiums and basketball courts for major schools and colleges, including the University of Iowa, Iowa State, and the University of Northern Iowa. His background as a journeyman carpenter through the carpenters apprenticeship program laid the foundation for his deep understanding of quality craftsmanship. In 2004, Scott transitioned to the residential flooring industry, starting Walker Flooring. For the next four years, he honed his skills installing, sanding, and finishing hardwood floors throughout the Des Moines metro area. His expertise and reputation grew, leading him to work for a major hardwood flooring distribution company in 2008. Over the next seven years, Scott provided training and education to flooring contractors and stores throughout Iowa. He learned from flooring mills, training centers, and the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), gathering knowledge and skills to elevate the industry in Iowa. In 2016, Scott decided to shift his focus to his family and home life, founding Flooring Solutions. His mission was clear: to provide top-quality flooring solutions with superior craftsmanship, while ensuring his customers received excellent service and communication.
