Founded in 2002 by April Brobst, our story began humbly with just one woman, a bucket, and a vacuum cleaner operating out of her 2004 Blue Honda Accord in Medford, Oregon. During a challenging time in her life, April had not envisioned herself as a business owner. However, a simple lunch conversation with friends sparked an idea that would change her life and the lives of many others in her community.

The Spark of Inspiration

During that lunch, a friend asked April how many houses she was cleaning. When April replied “six,” her friend urged her to consider starting her own cleaning business. Initially taken aback by the thought, April began to explore this newfound possibility. Scribbling ideas on a napkin, she brainstormed names such as “Aloha Maids” and “Cleaning with Aloha.” Seeking divine guidance, she found inspiration in the biblical term “handmaiden,” leading to the birth of Aloha Maiden Cleaning Service.

Growth and Development

Expansion to Hawaii

In 2012, April returned to her Hawaiian roots in Hilo, famous for its stunning landscapes, including Mauna Kea and Kilauea Volcano. Encouraged by her daughter and a friend in real estate, she decided to establish her cleaning service in Hawaii. Despite her initial reluctance to manage a team, she sought assistance from the SBDC in Hilo, helping her navigate the complexities of business ownership.
